About Us

West Reading Together

Bringing our community together

West Reading Together is a resident-led community group in West Reading, Berkshire, UK.

We aim to bring neighbours and our local community together through activities and projects.

We were founded in 2012 as Oxford Road Timebank. We changed our name to West Reading Together in 2019 to reflect the variety of our projects.

Our projects and activities are led by the community. We hold meetings for people to tell us what they would like to see happen locally. If you have an idea for a community event or project please get in touch using the contact form.

We send a regular email newsletter with news and events around West Reading. Please sign up via the link on the homepage.

What We Do

Projects

Current Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines mean that our usual projects are being adapted to help to keep our community safe. We are focussing on socially distanced ways to bring people together and support our local community and organisations.

Our recent projects (pre-Covid-19 restrictions) include:

Play Streets: we are supporting residents to start Playing Out in their road, making it friendlier, safer and fun for everyone.

Street Parties: supporting residents to hold Street Parties and get to know their neighbours.

West Reading Window Wanderland: in March 2019 we organised the first ever West Reading Window Wanderland. Hundreds of people followed the trail of colour and light to see dozens of decorated windows all over the community. It was a real success and we hope to do it again.

Board Game Social Groups: we host two weekly board game groups that are free and open to everyone. We have a lively group of mixed ages who meet every Tuesday morning 10.30-11.30 at Reading Central Library. We have a selection of games and are always open to trying new games brought along. It's free and open to everyone.
